Our Story

Jaya Nets began in 1985 with our own factory in Port Klang. We are Malaysia's longest-established rope and net manufacturer, and the largest by production capacity.

We serve fishing, shipping, farming, construction and industrial customers around the world — 2,000+ vessels across 20+ countries.

Founder and Chairman

Dato' Chew Hui Thong is the Founder and Chairman of Jaya Nets Sdn. Bhd., a pioneering Malaysian manufacturer of synthetic fishing and industrial nets, ropes, and related products. Established in 1985 and headquartered in Klang, Selangor, the company was founded on Dato' Chew's deep understanding of maritime industries and his vision to deliver products that could withstand the toughest environments.

Over four decades, Dato' Chew has transformed Jaya Nets into one of the region's most trusted names in rope and net manufacturing, supplying clients across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. Under his leadership, the company has upheld a philosophy of innovation, integrity, and sustainable growth — continually investing in modern technology, expanding production capabilities, and embracing environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

Today, Dato' Chew continues to guide Jaya Nets' strategic direction, ensuring that the company remains true to its founding principles while adapting to the evolving demands of global industries.

Lewis Chew leads Jaya Nets' commercial strategy and the modernisation of its systems and operations. He works directly with domestic and export customers across the company's marine, fishing, construction, agriculture and logistics markets.

Manufacturing Capability

Two manufacturing plants on a combined 15 acres (≈61,000 m²) in Klang, Selangor.

Production Capacity

  • 7,400 tonnes/year rope
  • 4,200 tonnes/year netting

In-House Testing Lab

We test our products in our own lab — breaking load, UV resistance, and abrasion. So you know it holds before it ships.

Third-Party Certification on Request

Some customers need third-party certificates — for example, for mooring ropes or tug boat ropes. We can arrange witness testing and certification through DNV or LRQA on request.

Our Journey

  1. 1985

    Founded by Dato' Chew Hui Thong.

  2. 1991

    Became Malaysia's largest fishing net manufacturer.

  3. 2004

    Achieved ISO 9001 certification.

  4. 2008

    Installed our first recycling machine to reuse production waste.

  5. 2011

    Opened our second plant at Jalan Kapar, doubling capacity.

  6. 2020

    Installed our first solar panels.

  7. 2022

    Expanded solar power. Solar now supplies 30% of our power.

  8. 2024

    Added a closed-loop water treatment system.

    Installed a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at each plant, cutting our electricity bill by 20%.
